The Regina Pats haven’t had many victories this season, but they got a big one on Friday.
Regina won for the 8th time as they knocked off the Memorial Cup host Kelowna Rockets 4-3 in a spirited affair at the Brandt Centre.
Caiden Daley and Zack Wytinck each had a goal and an assist for the winners (8-18-3), but it was Ryker Evans’ goal at 13:24 that turned out to be the winner.
The Pats had to survive a furious rally in the game’s dying seconds with defenceman Kyle Walker knocking the puck out of harm’s way into the corner when it looked like it may roll into the net after going off a stick as they preserved the victory.
Regina finishes off a four-game homestand and the first half of the season on Sunday afternoon when the Winnipeg Ice are in town for a 4 o’clock start. 620 CKRM will have the game starting at 3:35
