Man gets tasered after spraying a Police Service Dog with bear mace

On Saturday, October 1st, just before 6 p.m., a Regina Police Officer used a taser on a man who threatened them with bear mace.

The officer is also a member of the K-9 unit and he came across the man in the 1000 block of Angus Street.

The man pointed the Bear Mace at the officer in a threatening way.

The officer then gave him commands to drop the mace and comply with being taken into custody.

The man ignored the commands and resisted the arrest. the officer gave a final warning to drop the mace which the man ignored, in-turn the officer released his Police Service Dog.

The man then sprayed the dog with bear mace.

Once that happened, the officer used their taser.

The officer was successful in stopping taking down the man after a second attempt with the taser and was able to take the man into custody.

The man was charged with several criminal offenses including two counts of assault on a police officer, dangerous weapons, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting arrest.
