Air Canada suspending three Regina routes indefinitely due to COVID-19

It is news that the Regina Airport does not need to hear, but it is news that shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Air Canada is announcing they are indefinitely suspending service on 30 domestic regional routes including three that involve the Regina airport. They are connections between Regina and Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg and Regina and Ottawa. A Saskatoon-Ottawa route is also being suspended.

Air Canada says the move is being made because of COVID-19 and the resulting weak demand for business and leisure travel.

Air Canada says system-wide capacity was down about 85 per cent in the second quarter compared with the same quarter last year with capacity in the third quarter expected to be down 75 per cent compared with the third quarter of 2019
