On October 4, at around 1:30 p.m. police observed a speeding vehicle bearing no license plate matching the description of a vehicle stolen in mid-September.
The vehicle entered Glen Elm Trailer Court and police followed. Police successfully laid out a spike belt as the vehicle exited.
The vehicle continued on deflated tires and then came to a stop in the area of the 1200 block of Bond Street, where the driver fled on foot.
As police approached the driver, he dropped a can of bear spray.
The driver, a 17-year-old man, was arrested and charged.
The youth, who can not be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
- Possession of Prohibited Device.
- Dangerous Drive.
The youth was released and he is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court on Monday, December 5, at 9:30 a.m.
