It was a night where many in southern Saskatchewan were keeping their eye on the sky.
Early Friday evening, some tornado watches were issued for communities like Assiniboia and Rouleau, but while both received some strong winds and heavy rain, there was no sightings of funnel clouds. The weather office says a wind gust of just over 120 km/h was recorded in Assiniboia. Weyburn did get hit with strong winds and rain just before midnight with some flooding reported.

In Regina, people were treated to a great lightning show and some rain, but nothing major occurred even though the sky became extremely dark and threatening.

The weather office says the recipe is there for another evening of storm activity so expect some severe thunderstorm watches and warnings to be made before the day is over.
