People who were asking for rain finally had their prayers answered this week.
Plenty of rain has fallen in Regina and the surrounding area over the last couple days.
31 millimetres of rain fell throughout the day on Friday in Regina. Over the past 48 hours, the city has received just over 41 millimetres.
Coronach, Saskatchewan experienced the most rainfall in the province over the last 48 hours at 64.6 millimetres. When counting the last 84 hours, the community recorded 119 millimetres.
The precipitation has been welcomed by many in the province who have been dealing with dry conditions this spring and summer. And for those who are hoping there’s more on the way this weekend, they’re in luck.
“Still not out of the woods yet in regards to precipitation. Could see some showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Shannon Moody.
With the chance of thunderstorms in the area, Moody also mentioned how there’s something else people will have to watch out for with today’s weather.
“We have an environment that is a little special, so it’s conducive to the development of funnel clouds,” she explained. “Those funnel clouds are generally not severe and they rarely touch the ground. But it’s something for the public to be aware of.”
Today’s forecast is calling for a high of 17 degrees and a low of 10. There’s still a chance of rain and thunderstorms for tomorrow to wrap up the weekend; the daytime high is expected to be a bit higher at 20 degrees.
