The Regina Pats have brought in an import player after making a trade with the Tri-City Americans on Friday.
The deal sees 17-year-old forward Jan Cikhart go to the Pats in exchange for a conditional fourth round pick in 2022 to the Americans.
Cikhart, who stands at 6’3 and weighs 190 pounds, has put up one goal and four points in 25 games in his young WHL career.
The Praha, Czech Republic forward recorded 18 goals and 31 points in 40 games while playing in the Czech U19 League last season. He also competed in the World U17 Hockey Challenge last year, posting two goals in five games.
“We are happy to add Jan to our team,” said Pats VP of Hockey Operations and General Manager John Paddock in a media release. “We had an open European spot on our roster, and we look forward to seeing what he can add to our club.”
The Pats return to action tonight after the holiday break with a visit to the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. here on 620 CKRM. Game time is at 7:00 p.m. from Mosaic Place.
