The latest Saskatchewan agriculture crop report says most of the province received rain this past week.

The Rama area northwest of Yorkton had the highest amount at 98 millimeters or almost 4 inches.

Many areas received hail and strong winds.

The Tisdale area in the northeast sustained damaged crops and property and isolated areas in the southwest also received heavy hail with damaged crops.

24 percent of spring cereal crops are heading, 48 percent of pulses and 37 percent of canola are in the flowering stage.

Some areas have flood damaged fields.

Topsoil moisture is rated 4 percent surplus, 82 percent adequate, 11 percent short and 3 percent very short.

The majority of crop damage was caused by flooding, hail and wind.

There are also reports of damage caused by dry conditions in the southern and east-central regions.

Farmers are scouting for disease damage and applying fungicides for a wide range of plant diseases.

Haying has started with 8 percent of the hay crop cut and 3 percent baled or put into silage.

Hay quality is rated 8 percent excellent, 66 percent good, 20 percent fair and six percent poor.

Pastures are rated 12 percent excellent, 49 percent good, 30 percent fair, 7 percent poor and 2 percent very poor.

More of the pastures in the southern and east-central regions have been rated fair to good compared to the other regions rated as fair to excellent.
