Starting Monday, July 13th, the Batoche National Historic Site, and the Motherwell Homestead will reopen with some limited visitor services.
In Batoche, visitors will have access to the visitor centre, museum, art gallery and washrooms, interpretive programs, shuttle service Historic church and Caron Home access with guided tour, gift shop, walking trails, including the new ‘Li Pchi Schmayn’ interpretive trail, outdoor food service, and the playground. Indoor food service will be unavailable.
At the Motherwell Homestead, people will have access to the visitor centre and washrooms, outdoor interpretive programs, Historic implement shed and barn, with livestock, green spaces and walking trails. The playground, Stone House, gift shop, and restaurant remain closed at this time.
On-site physical distancing will be implemented at both sites.
Parks Canada says this year, Canada Historic Places Day will be celebrated throughout the months of July and August online. Virtual engagement and exploration of Canada’s National Historic Sites can be done at www.historicplacesday.ca
