We knew the warmer than average autumn wouldn’t last forever.

Environment Canada has issued a “snowfall warning” for Regina.  The weather office is predicting between 10 and 20 centimetres (or just under 8 inches) of snow.

The flakes are expected to start falling sometime early Sunday morning, and continue through the day tapering off Monday morning.

Driving during this heavy snowfall may be no picnic either, as the wind gusts are expected to get up to 60 kilometres an hour all day Sunday.

This could make the Monday commute a bit of a challenge as the fist snowfall tends to remind drivers how to tackle the snow.

Snowfall warnings are in effect in a few other areas around southern Saskatchewan:  Gravelbourg, Assiniboia, Coronach, Fort Qu’Appelle, Indian Head, Pilot Butte, Moose Jaw, Pense, Central Butte, Craik, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Cypress Hills, Val Marie.

The snow that falls could stick around for a few days, as the forecast is calling for temperatures to remain below zero day and night, until Thursday.
