Regina man arrested after string of break and enters at businesses

Regina police have charged a 22-year-old man in connection with a theft and multiple break and enters over the past ten days in the city.

The first incident reported to police was on July 9 between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. where a break and enter happened at a business on the 100 block of Victoria Avenue East. The police report stated that the suspect smashed a glass door and stole a cash drawer, electronic equipment and a donation jar.

On July 11 just before 10:00 p.m., a call was made to police about a man who entered a convenience store and stole a basket full of food items.

At 4:50 a.m. on July 12, the glass front door at a business on the 300 block of Albert Street was smashed in a break and enter. Video surveillance showed a man entering the building, grabbing cash from trays and exiting.

Another break and enter at a business was reported to Regina police on July 15 at 8:00 a.m. on the 500 block of Albert Street. The glass front door was smashed and damage was caused to the business. Police say it did not appear the suspect took anything.

The latest crime was at 7:00 a.m. on July 19 when a break and enter was reported on the 2700 block of Avonhurst Drive. The report stated the suspect again smashed the glass front door and removed electronic equipment. A cash register tray was found at the back of the business.

Police managed to identify, locate and arrest the suspect on Sunday without incident.

22-year-old Jeremy Austin Lee Hastings of Regina faces multiple charges including theft, break and enter and trafficking property obtained by crime over $5000.

He made his first court appearance on these charges on Monday morning.
