Alabama hit number one on this day in 1982 with an old Exile song from 1980. “Take Me Down” would stay at the top for one week for the group and become their seventh chart topper.
Blackhawk’s self titled debut album was certified double platinum on this day in 1996. Four of the five singles were top 10 hits.
Tim McGraw was in the middle of a three week ride at number one on this day in 2004 with “Live Like You Were Dying.”
George Fox reached number one on this day in 1995 with “First Comes Love” from his album “Time of my Life.”
We’ll celebrate a few birthday’s today. Pam Tillis turns turns 63 and Jarrod Niemann is 41. Happy birthday to Canada’s Aaron Goodvin as well!
Saturday, July 25th marks the 28th anniversary of “The River” by Garth Brooks going to number one. It stayed in the top spot for one week.
Steve Wariner hit number one with “The Weekend” on July 25th, 1987.
Looking ahead to Sunday, Buck Owens reached number one with Johnny B. Goode on July 26th, 1969 and this weekend will mark 52 years since Jeannie C. Reilly recorded “Harper Valley PTA.”
