The famous Danceland hall in Manitou each is set to return next month, but an important part will be missing to the tourist destination’s charm.
The iconic dance hall is set to reopen in August but will only be able to offer shows as dancing is not permitted due to current public health guidelines.
Owner Millie Strueby says they have booked two bands to help them re-open with a bang.
“It’s going to be different because we’ve been closed for so long,” Strueby said. “We’re going to give it a try and see if it’s going to work.
“If not, we’ll just have to wait until we can dance again.”
Strueby says dancing is what they’re known for, so not seeing people on the dance floor will be strange.
“I do get a lot of emails and phone calls saying ‘we sure miss dancing, I wish we could dance again,’ and I’m getting these calls from other provinces too,” Strueby said. “I think, maybe people will be coming back, the ones that were usually dancing at Danceland.”
The dance hall was set to celebrate it’s 90th anniversary back in July, but those celebrations have been postponed to next year.
