Must win feel for Riders who host the Stampeders Saturday night

It’s a huge game for the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, as they’ll walk off the Mosaic Stadium turf sitting at either 6-3 or 5-4 Saturday night, as they face the same Calgary Stampeders team that beat them one week ago.

Quarterback Cody Fajardo said one thing he took away from last week was how much better they have to be on first down.

“After watching the film, there was definitely some throws that we completed, but I wish I would’ve thrown a little bit better to lead to more 2nd/3 or short yardage situations on 2nd down, as opposed to 2nd and long, so that’s kind of what I picked up on watching the film from last week,” Fajardo said.

One of the changes for the team will be at receiver, as Justin McInnis takes the spot of Mitch Picton.

“McInnis is a bigger body,” Fajardo said. “He’s a guy who played in 2019 and played well, so he’s one of those guys that can stretch the field or you can give him a short over the shoulder catch, he’s also a guy that can get extra yards on the ground just because he’s so hard to bring down,” Fajardo added.
