REAL opens dressing rooms at Cooperators Centre; to allow spectators later this week

The dressing rooms are once again open at the Cooperators Centre.

As was the case for the entire arena for a brief period of time, the dressing rooms were closed due to COVID-19.

Regina Exhibition Association President and CEO Tim Reid says this is one step closer to life as usual at the rink.

“I don’t have to look out and see everybody tailgating in the parking lot and getting changed in the parking lot anymore,” Reid said. “I actually think this is nice because people will have a place to get changed, they’ll have an opportunity to grab a shower after a game, and I think for anybody that’s involved in the Hockey, Figure Skating or Ice Sport world, this is one step closer towards a new normal.”

Reid says Children’s Day Camp is coming to the EVRAZ Place campus, something that gives kids a chance to safely participate in a wide variety of activities.

“The intent of is (to) give children an opportunity to come together, get them feeling comfortable with engaging in a public setting — as long as Mom and Dad say that that’s okay,” Reid said. “And then hopefully just give them an opportunity to get out of the house, be safely around other kids in an environment that allows a lot of space for physical distancing.”

The camps will run from August 10th to the 28th. Kids ages six to 12 are able to participate.

Another welcome change is coming this week, as Reid says spectators will be allowed back into the building as early as Wednesday. At the moment, Reid says REAL is just waiting for signage to arrive before opening the facility to spectators.
