Blowing snow advisory for much of southern Saskatchewan

The weather has turned snowy and nasty to walk or drive, and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a blowing snow advisory.

Travel is expected to be hazardous in the coming hours for Regina, Fort Qu’Appelle, Indian Head, Humboldt, Leader, Moose Jaw, Outlook, Maple Creek and Swift Current.

As of 4:25 p.m., travel was not recommended on the Trans Canada between Moose Jaw and Swift Current, and many of the smaller highways in between.

ECCC said in a release that blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least three hours.

Visibility will improve this evening.
