Regina Pats pick up goalie from Vancouver for 2024 conditional pick

The Regina Pats have acquired an 18-year-old goaltender from the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday.

2003-born Drew Sim was dealt to the Pats in exchange for a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2024 WHL Bantam Draft.

Sim has appeared in 11 WHL games in his career thus far — nine of which came in last year’s abbreviated season — going 5-2-1 with a 3.17 GAA and an .846 SV%. He also registered one shutout against the Victoria Royals.

His first WHL game was in relief as a 16-year-old, stopping 19 of 20 shots against the Kamloops Blazers in a relief appearance.

“We are pleased to acquire Drew to increase our goaltending depth,” Regina Pats General Manager John Paddock said in a news release.

The Pats are back in action on Friday night when they host the first half of a home-and-home with the Winnipeg ICE.

Puck drop is at 7:00. Tickets are still available at the Brandt Centre box office. 620 CKRM will also have the game, beginning with the pregame show at 6:35.
