Regina University is switching from a Saskatchewan Party seat to a Saskatchewan NDP seat.
NDP candidate Aleana Young has defeated incumbent Tina Beaudry-Mellor of the Sask. Party in what was one of the closest races of the 2020 provincial election. It was revealed that Young had a 226-vote lead over Beaudry-Mellor following a 1:00 p.m. Thursday update from the election’s second preliminary count of mail-in ballots.
Beaudry-Mellor confirmed the news in a social media post Thursday afternoon where she congratulated Young on her win.

On election night Monday, Beaudry-Mellor had a 178 vote lead before Elections Saskatchewan began counting mail-in votes on Wednesday.
There are 444 vote by mail ballots still unaccounted for. Those ballots can be received by Elections Saskatchewan no later than noon on November 5 in time for the final count on November 7.
Beaudry-Mellor defeated Young by over 400 votes in the 2016 election. She recently served as the minister of advanced education, minister responsible for Innovation Saskatchewan and the minister responsible for the Status of Women office.
Question marks are hanging above Regina Pasqua where no winner has been confirmed yet. That battle is between the NDP’s Bhajan Brar and the Sask. Party’s Muhammad Fiaz.
However Brar has shortened Fiaz’s lead after an update showed there are 386 votes between the two candidates. 1,871 vote by mail ballots were counted out of 2,674 as of Thursday afternoon.
Elections Sask. indicates the Sask. Party have won or are leading in 48 seats to the NDP’s 13.
