Farm Credit Canada expresses optimism for grain farming in 2022

Regina-based Farm Credit Canada is painting an optimistic picture for grain farming in 2022.

FCC economist Craig Klemmer says inflationary pressures and trade tensions will need to be monitored.

But he remains positive about the coming year.

He says oilseed and grain prices were 20 to 30 percent higher in 2021 compared to the previous year.

He says grain production is expected to increase and prices will decline somewhat in the coming year.

Klemmer says demand remains strong but weather remains an unknow factor for farm prices in 2022.

FCC says farm cash receipts rose 12 percent in 2021.
