Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced standardized Canadian proof of vaccination for travel.

Speaking outside a children’s hospital in Ottawa, the prime minister says they made a commitment for a proof of vaccination certificate to be issued by every province and territory allowing people to travel.

“Today I am happy to confirm that all provinces and territories have confirmed that they will be moving forward with a standardized national proof of vaccination,” Trudeau said.

“We are very confident that this proof of vaccination certificate, that will be federally approved, issued by the provinces with the health information for Canadians is going to be accepted at destinations world wide,” Trudeau added.

The federal government will be picking up the tab for the systems.

Trudeau also remains confident that a COVID-19 vaccine for children five to 11 will be approved soon.

“I can assure you that Health Canada is going to be examining attentively the Pfizer submission, Health Canada is going to be taking the time necessary to ensure that like all vaccines approved for use in Canada, will be fully safe and effective,” he added.

Trudeau says once approval is granted, the government has made sure enough doses are available for all kids in that age group.
