It was a big night for Regina’s Cole Sillinger on Thursday.
The 18-year-old scored his first NHL goal for the Columbus Blue Jackets, in a 3-2 overtime win over the New York Islanders.

Sillinger’s goal came late in the second period to give Columbus a 2-1 lead.
It was the fourth game of his young NHL career.
“I don’t think there was ever any pressure,” he said speaking to the media after the game. “I think I was getting chances in games, that was my main focus and I knew it was going to come sometime.”
Father Mike scored his first goal back in April of 1992 for Detroit, in the playoffs.

Sillinger, born in May of 2003, also came into the game as the youngest player in the NHL, Zdeno Chara, who was in the lineup for the Islanders, is the oldest in the league at 44 .
Sillinger was selected 12th overall by the Blue Jackets in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
