Saskatchewan adds over 13,000 jobs in July

Saskatchewan had strong job growth in July with 13,300 more jobs as the economies reopening and recovery continues.

The province now has the second lowest unemployment rate in Canada and the second highest employment rate compared to pre-pandemic levels in February.

Nationally the economic recovery was better than predicted with 419,000 jobs added last month, the jobless rate fell to 10.9 per cent.

That’s down from 12.3 per cent in June.

Economists had forecast a gain of 400,000 jobs and for the unemployment rate to fall to 11 per cent.

Most employment gains in July were in part-time work, which increased to the tune of 345,000 positions.

Full-time positions increased by 73,000.
