Another plea is made to government by some medical health officers

A letter addressed to Health Minister Paul Merriman has been sent by 21 medical health officers across the province.

The letter, sent to Merriman last week, asks for the government to adopt stricter measures to control the fourth wave of COVID-19 that has hit the province hard.

Recommendations in the letter include expanding the amount of places where proof of vaccination is required, reducing gathering limits and that those staging large events consider cancelling them.

Improved testing and better access to data are also being requested as is a suggestion for people to reduce their contacts for the next month.

Earlier this year, Merriman did say the province would consider requests from medical health officers for more restrictions if the need was there.
