The Riders won’t have the services of Jon Ryan for Saturday’s game against Montreal and likely some others as well.
Head Coach Craig Dickenson said Tuesday Ryan suffered an ankle injury in last Saturday’s win over Calgary that will keep him out of the lineup for what he estimates is two or three weeks.
“The doctors are going to take a look at it again and make sure nothing’s broken.” Dickenson said following Mondy’s practice which went indoors at the Eventplex due to the rainy weather. “We think it’s just a high-ankle sprain, but it’s severe enough that he won’t play this week.”
Ryan’s absence means a global player will take his spot as Norwegian Karre Vedvik and Australian Ben Scruton will compete to see who gets the job for the game featuring two 6-4 teams.
In 10 games this season, Ryan has an average of just under 47 yards on 62 punts.
