Severe weather could hit Eastern SK before day is over

Severe thunderstorm watches are out for a good portion of eastern Saskatchewan including Regina, Yorkton, Weyburn, Estevan, Humboldt and Melfort.

Environment Canada’s Terri Lang says there is a small chance that the system rolling through could spawn some tornadoes.

“Certainly all forms of thunderstorms and severe weather are on the table with large hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain.” Lang said Wednesday morning. “There is a potential for tornadoes as those conditions are all there, but things have to be just right for that to happen.  That being said, people should keep an eye out for the conditions around them and take the appropriate precautions.”

Lang says the system producing the severe weather should roll out of the province and into Manitoba late tonight or early Thursday morning.
