Pats set to tangle with the Tigers

After being off for more than a week, the Regina Pats return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Today’s game is the final one for the Pats before they begin a road trip through Alberta, beginning in Red Deer on Tuesday.

Last Saturday, Regina defeated the Swift Current Broncos 5-2 at the Brandt Centre.

Connor Bedard was busy on the ice this week. The Pats captain took part in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game on Wednesday. While he didn’t score in that game, Bedard still holds a 32-game point streak in the Western Hockey League. The 17 year old is also on top of the league’s scoring as he leads goals (39) and points (81), he’s also tied for first in the league in assists (42).

There are plenty of playoff implications on the line tonight. The Pats hold the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference as they trail the Broncos by one point. Medicine Hat enters today’s game two points back of the Pats for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The two teams will meet once again at the conclusion of the Pats upcoming road trip in Alberta, a week from today.

Last the Tigers were handed a 3-2 overtime loss in Moose Jaw against the Warriors.
