Above average temperatures and mixed precipitation in October for Saskatchewan

Environment Canada has released their weather stats for the month of October, saying the month was quite the mixed bag for Saskatchewan.

Meteorologist Terri Lang says when it comes to temperatures, the province saw some above average heat.

“The exception was how it kind of got progressively more of above average the further north that you got, which is sort of unusual,” Lang said. “We found that the arctic was really warm, exceptionally warm for October.”

Lang says while some parts of the province had a dry month, many places had some snow and rain.

“It was — for the most part — drier than average, but there were some pockets of moisture that were received by some areas,” Lang said. “Mostly that west central area — Lloydminster, Meadow Lake, in through there — and Regina, Moose Jaw as well saw some precipitation.”

Lang expects to see the warmer than average trend continue in November.
