Farm Credit Canada report points to major opportunities in Canadian food exports

Regina-based Farm Credit Canada has released a report showing major opportunities to expand Canadian farm trade.

Chief agricultural economist J.P. Gervais says the export pace for Canadian farm exports has been steady this year despite the coronavirus.

He says there are big opportunities in China and Europe to export more Canadian canola oil, as well as prepared beef and pork.

Gervais says Canada has a great opportunity to export food products because of safety and quality.

Last year, Canadian food, beverage and commodity exports were worth about $67-billion, up almost 10 percent since 2015.
