RCMP looking for suspect after sexual assault at Lashburn rink

Maidstone RCMP received a report of a sexual assault at a rink in Lashburn over the weekend.

RCMP said that a man sexually assaulted a female child, who is under the age of 10, in a dressing room at the Lashburn Sportplex sometime between noon and 1:30 p.m. that day.

The child reported the sexual assault to her parents, who contacted the police.

Police could not locate the suspect but say the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as a male in his 40s with dark hair. He was clean-shaven and was wearing a black jacket.

Maidstone RCMP Sergeant Jolyne Harrison said they are looking to the public for help locating the suspect.

“Members of the public can help progress this investigation by reporting all information about this incident and by contacting us if you took any photos or videos in the lobby of the Lashburn Sportsplex between noon and 1:30 p.m. on January 29,” she said. “We are also interested in any home security footage that captures the roadway in the arena area from the same timeframe.”

She added that they want parents and guardians to be aware of this incident and the suspect’s description, so they can take safety precautions and discuss it with their children.

To report information, RCMP asks that you call the Maidstone RCMP at 306-893-4800 or submit it to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
