Farm leaders in Saskatchewan applaud Ottawa’s move to set up a Canadian farm trade office in the Indo-Pacific region.
The federal government will pump almost 32 million dollars to the office to expand farm trade in Canada’s second largest regional export market.
Agriculture minister David Marit says the federal office will work in collaboration with existing Saskatchewan offices in India, China, Japan and Singapore.
A site for the Canadian office has not been selected yet.
Officials with the Canadian Cattle Association and Canadian Federation of Agriculture also welcome the new farm trade office in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Indo-Pacific region is the fastest growing area in the world.
