A tornado was confirmed to have touched down east of Ituna around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Environment Canada’s Shannon Moodie, said with no damaged suspected at this time, the twister was rated as an F-0.

Being a weak tornado, Moodie reminded people that it is never a good idea to get to close to these dangerous phenomenon’s.

“Definitely not, no, if anybody sees a tornado certainly always respect your distance and take shelter immediately,” she said.

With plenty of active weather on Monday as well, Moodie says things are expected to be much more calm on Wednesday, with a chance of more severe weather once again on Thursday.

“However things will get a little more active Thursday evening, we have a system that will be moving in that will bring some showers and the risk of thunderstorms for a good chunk of southern Saskatchewan, and that will persist through Friday,” Moodie said.

Moodie said the lack of thunderstorms and tornados this season can be blamed on the lingering smoke from wildfires and the lack of moisture in the air.
