A 35-year-old Manitoba man has died after a vehicle fire on the Highway 39 bypass by Estevan.

RCMP in Estevan learned of a vehicle that was on fire with a driver trapped inside just before 11:30 p.m on Wednesday. Estevan RCMP, an RCMP traffic reconstructionist, local EMS, fire departments and police officers from the Estevan Police Service were on scene.

Once police made it to the scene, they confirmed there was a deceased man inside the vehicle and there were no other occupants. Next of kin have been notified and the person’s name will not be released.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place in the coming days.

The investigation into the circumstances of the vehicle fire is ongoing.
