A man has been charged in connection to yesterday’s five vehicle collision east of Wakaw on Highway #41.

At about 1:00 PM, Wakaw RCMP were called to a construction zone, where a semi-truck rear-ended the vehicles ahead of him.

The collision resulted in the death of a 69 year-old man. No name has been released. Other people in the collision were treated either at the scene or in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

38 year-old Gurmeet Cheema has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time.
