Hilltops ruin Thunder’s perfect season with PFC championship win

For the seventh straight year, the Saskatoon Hilltops are the champions of the Prairie Football Conference.

Despite beating the Hilltops twice in the regular season, the Regina Thunder could not knock off their provincial rivals in the third and most important game as they lost 29-9 to the Hilltops at Mosaic Stadium in the league final.

The Thunder could not stop Saskatoon’s run game on this day as the Hilltops ran for 383 yards on the afternoon.  The Thunder, who had not lost this season and were 9-0 going in, could also not find their way into the endzone as they had to settle for three Eric Maximuik field goals in the first half.

The Hilltops, who have been Canadian Bowl champions since 2014, will head to Langley B.C next weekend in a Canadian semi-final game with the winner heading to Ontario December 4 to play that league’s champion.
