On demand transit being tested in Regina’s Normanview area

The City of Regina is moving to a four month on demand transit pilot project.

The city says Route 10 transit will be available on demand from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM Monday to Friday starting on August 31st.

Spokesperson Brad Bells says there’s no additional fee for this transit service and regular fees still apply.

“Customers will also have the added convenience of booking trips up to two days in advance,” Bells said. “If the pilot is successful, Regina Transit will look for opportunities to expand this service to other areas of the city in 2021.”

Bells says other cities in Canada have said this program works.

“Our customers for it as well, so we think it’s a win for both parties,” Bells said. “We want to test it, and it may be a way for us to deliver transit service in the future.”

Those wanting to use this service can request transit on demand through a City of Regina transit app, going online to the city’s website or by phoning a designated transit number, which is (306) 777-7725. The phone number is available anytime between 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
