Pats begin final stretch of games before Christmas tonight against Spokane

After a busy weekend where the Regina Pats played three games in three days, they will close out their pre-Christmas schedule with three games over the next four days. On Wednesday night, the Pats will welcome in the Spokane Chiefs to the Brandt Centre.

Sunday night, the Pats closed out their weekend with a 6-1 loss to the Winnipeg ICE. Kelton Pyne made his debut with the club and made 34 saves in the loss. Tanner Howe picked up his 20th goal of the season for the Pats in the loss.

Tonight’s game will be the first time the Chiefs and the Pats will face each other since January 18, 2020 when the two teams met in Spokane. The last time the Chiefs made a visit to the Queen City was back on October 17, 2018.

With Connor Bedard and Stanislav Svozil gone to represent their respective countries at the upcoming World Juniors in Halifax, the Pats have made a couple of callups. 2007-born forward Corban Almen from the Saskatoon Blazers along with 2006-born defenceman Kolten Bridgeman from the Regina Pat Canadians have been recalled by the team.

Despite an extended road trip in November and December, the Pats are rolling right now as they have gone 7-2 over their last nine games, Regina has racked up 41 goals over that span.

Spokane has struggled to a 6-20-0-1 record this season and have gone 1-4 over their last five games. They are currently in the midst of a six game road trip.

Coverage of tonight’s game on 620 CKRM will begin at 6:35, opening faceoff is 7:00.
