Online learning to continue at Indian Head schools; COVID-19 case found at Pilot Butte school

The Prairie Valley School Division provided a couple updates late Wednesday afternoon regarding a couple schools within their division.

A case of COVID-19 has been diagnosed in an individual at Pilot Butte School on Wednesday. The division says this has resulted in one classroom transitioning to online learning until December 7.

Close contacts have been directed to self-isolate for 14 days.

Meanwhile, Pilot Butte School will remain open and classes will continue as normal for all other students.

In Indian Head, online learning will continue for an additional week at both the elementary school and high school.

In-class learning is now anticipated to begin on December 7 rather than November 30. Students at the elementary and high schools in the community have been participating in online learning since November 16 after a number of cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the community, resulting in a significant number of individuals requiring to self-isolate.

The decision was made in consultation with public health officials in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.
