The City of Regina kicked off Canadian Western Agribition a little early with a flag-raising event Thursday afternoon.
The flag-raising was to proclaim November 22 to 27, as Agribition Week in the city, but that wasn’t the only announcement.
A partnership between the CWA and the Economic Development of Regina was also announced.
Chris Lane, the CEO for CWA, said this continues years of the City of Regina and them working together.
“Our two organizations will work together to support the City’s growth plan around agriculture, tourism, and both investment and event attraction, he said. ”
Lane added that if it wasn’t for the City’s support, he doesn’t know if they would be celebrating 50 years.
Chelsea Galloway, the chief tourism and visitor growth officer with Economic Development of Regina, said Agribition provides a stage to share the best of agriculture in the world.
“That’s why this partnership is a natural fit for both of our organizations, and for our community,” she said. “It will help amplify our efforts in investment attraction, event attraction and tourism, as we continue work to further cement Regina’s status as a global ag and food innovation hub,” Galloway added.
Agribition’s 50th anniversary show kicks off this coming Monday.
