Environment Canada climatologist releases top weather stories of 2022

The top weather story in 2022 was the arrival of Tropical storm Fiona in the maritimes in September.

The chief climatologist with Environment Canada, David Phillips, says the second top story was a massive wind storm in Quebec and Ontario that cost over one billion dollars in loss.

The third biggest weather story was heavy spring rains, which drenched Manitoba and parts of Eastern Saskatchewan during seeding.

Phillips adds the number 9 top weather story was record-breaking cold last December and January, particularly in Saskatchewan.
