A natural hat-trick from Cole Carrier in a span of 3:40 in the third period, helped lead the Regina Pats to a big 6-2 win in Medicine Hat Tuesday night, to improve to 2-0 with John Paddock back behind the bench.

Paddock said after the game that Carrier’s quick hat-trick, which was also his first in the league, was an impressive way to secure a win.

“Well they were certainly big goals that helped salt the game away,” Paddock said. “Cole’s been a little bit inconsistent overall in his game, he always has been, but he’s levelled it off quite a bit this year and he certainly had a great third period for us,” Paddock added.

The Pats, who went 2/4 on the power-play and a perfect 5/5 on the penalty-kill, also got goals from Connor Bedard, Logan Nijhoff and Drew Englot.

Matthew Kieper made 25 saves in the win.

“I thought we played 60 minutes of good solid and sound hockey, we did have some poor puck management somewhat in the first period especially, but overall the gusy worked hard and played a smart game,” Paddock said.

The Pats (8-10-0-0) will be right back at it Wednesday night, taking on the Hurricanes (7-10-0-0) in Lethbridge.
