U of R Cougars set school record for academic All-Canadians

Being a student-athlete is not an easy thing to do.  Don’t say that at the University of Regina though as the athletic program is celebrating a major accomplishment.

In the 2019-20 academic year, the Cougars/Rams program combined for 91 Academic All-Canadian nominations which is earned when a student-athlete registers a grade point average in excess of 80% while using a year of eligibility in their sport.

The 91 are the most the U of R have had in a single year.

Two student-athletes managed to accomplish the feat in each of their five years representing the Cougars. The two are Jet Davies (women’s soccer) and Tamara McVannel (women’s hockey).

This fall, the recipients will combine to receive a total of just under $200,000 in tuition credits.
