We were gifted with a whole lot of snow, and the city of Regina is starting a “city wide” plow, which will include residential areas.

There are some 500 kilometres of roads to clear in the city, so its expected to take 12 days to get done. The plows will start rolling on Tuesday, January 3rd.

You can find out when your street is scheduled to be plowed through the city’s website, and that way you can make sure your car is off the street.

Here’s a few more tips from the city:

Move your vehicle.

• On your plow day, do not park on the street between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
• This allows safer and more effective plowing operations as crews don’t have to work around vehicles on the road.
• Be neighbourly and offer to share your driveway when possible.

Expect snow ridges.

• Snow ridges will be left along the curb and around vehicles left parked on the street.
• While all efforts are made to minimize snow ridges, the result is dependent on the amount of snow being plowed and the number of parked vehicles or obstacles the equipment must plow around.
• Crews will not come back to plow if vehicles have not been moved.

Be safe.

• Use caution while travelling city roads and near snow equipment.
• Stay back at least 15 metres – or 3.5 car lengths – from the equipment.

For your safety and the safety of crews, if you see a group of graders and trucks working in a staggered formation, do not drive in between the equipment.
