Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has taken a swipe at both Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and Alberta Premier Jason Kenney for their COVID-19 response.

Speaking in Richmond B.C Tuesday morning,  Trudeau says he feels bad for the people in both provinces who have stepped up to do the right thing by gettinfg fully vaccinated and are now at risk because others are not and that vaccine passports are the among the best ways to get people to get the shot, but neither wants to set up government-mandated proof of vaccine requirements.

He added because of leadership that will not commit to keeping them safe in the right way or even protecting the economy the right way, they are facing greater risks because of cancelled surgeries, and emergency public health restrictions that may have to be brought in

The comments from Trudeau come one day after the province recorded its highest one-day total of new COVID-19 cases with 449 and less than a week before Canadians go to the polls.  Trudeau and his Liberals are hoping they can gain some seats in Saskatchewan and Alberta after not winning any in the last election.

The government says it will issue no comment on a politically-charged statement from one of the federal party leaders on a serious health challenge affecting all Canadians.
