Ranch Ehrlo Society opens new family addictions program in Moose Jaw

A new family centred addiction program is now available in Moose Jaw.

Ranch Ehrlo’s latest addictions treatment program is an extension of their family treatment program that began 15 years ago.

Director Patti Petrucka says this is an exciting program for families dealing with addictions.

“(Families can) enter a journey of healing together so that the children don’t necessarily have to be in care or separated from their parents,” Petrucka said. “It’s a really remarkable opportunity for families to stay together as they come together to work on addictions.”

Petrucka says programming like this is badly needed.

“I’ve gotten family members calling for themselves, I’ve got grandmas, kookums, mushums, parents, aunties, sisters, community agencies — from addiction services to social services to health authorities — from numerous provinces calling in,” Petrucka said. “The demand is unbelievable, we won’t be able to meet the demand at all.”

Petrucka says when it comes to what’s next, Ranch Ehrlo will continue to watch for what the community needs.

“We’re always doing evidence-based practice, we’re looking at our outcomes of the programs, and the delivery, ensuring that we’re competent in the services that we provide and that we’re always working in the best interest of the people we serve in our community.”

The current program has room for six families to receive 24/7 on-site staff support.
