Sask NDP attack SaskParty government over back to school plan

The NDP is critical of the Moe governments back to school plan during the coronavirus pandemic.

Opposition critic Carla Beck says both Regina public and Catholic school divisions are going to online learning for two weeks both the week before Christmas break and after.

She says it shows a failure of provincial support for school boards.

She says Regina public schools do not have enough substitute teachers because of the pandemic.

Education minister Dustin Duncan says the province has provided the highest funding ever for school division operations this year.

On top of that, he says the province is providing another 150 million dollars for additional staff and technology.

Duncan says the funding provides the flexibility for schools during a pandemic to determine the best course forward.
