Debate on controversial Bill 70 continues in Saskatchewan Legislature

The NDP continues asking questions during Question Period on a bill aimed at overhauling the current security at the Legislature.

Bill 70 would replace the current security team and replace it with one whose head would be appointed by the government.  It is a bill that confuses the opposition because they have no issue with the current security detail.

Opposition Corrections critic Nicole Sarauer continues to push for the bill to be scrapped and that Corrections Minister Christine Tell needs to let them know what worries they have.  Tell says the government is looking to be proactive because the world has changed when it comes to threatening behaviours thus an appropriate level of security is needed to gather intelligence.  She adds this would be a non-partisan appointment which is something Sarauer questions.
