The story leading into the CFL West Final between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers is the weather.
The forecast at kickoff (3 p.m) is calling for two to four centimeters of snow, winds blowing at around 50 kilometers an hour and a temperature of minus 7 at kickoff with that temperature dropping as the night goes on.
It is a game where Riders head coach Craig Dickenson knows the conditions will dictate decisions that will be made.
“Both teams will be affected by it in some way, shape or form and whoever handles it the best will fare better.” Dickenson told reporters in Winnipeg on Saturday. ” The game’s going to get played, and under those conditions we’ll see how it unfolds.”
Cody Fajardo says he isn’t going to let the cold weather distract him. He says playing in the cold in Canada means you are usually playing the length of the season and that the team is blessed to be in the position it is.

NOTES:
- The home team has won five of the last six Western Finals. The only team to lose at home in that time span was the Riders in 2019
- This is the first time the two teams have played in the Western Final in Winnipeg since the Riders beat the Bombers in 1972
- This is the third time in the last four years that the Riders have been involved in a division final.
- On a cold day, the running game is expected to play a huge role in the game. Winnipeg was 2nd in the league in rush yards per game with just under 120 per game while Saskatchewan was fifth with 93.
