Eberle the overtime hero for Islanders Tuesday night

Regina’s own Jordan Eberle was the overtime hero Tuesday night for the New York Islanders scoring the winner in double OT to extend the eastern final against Tampa Bay to a sixth game and give the Isles the 2-1 win.

After the game Eberle said they were successful because they stuck to playing the way they play best, with patience.

“It’s kind of the style of our team, we’re patient and we don’t want to give up a lot,” Eberle said. “They’ve got a lot of firepower over there and you don’t want to give them the opportunities to use it especially in overtime, so be patient and especially when you get your chances you’ve got to jump on them.”

Eberle, who is known for scoring at key moments, was quick to pass the credit to his teammates.

“You got to look at the whole play, Lee (Anders) did a heck of a job chipping it to himself and then making a great pass to me so I had to put it in, a lot of credit should go to him too.”

After not scoring in 13 games with the Edmonton Oilers in the 2017 postseason, Eberle now has five markers these playoffs.

Game six will be Thursday night from the Edmonton bubble.
