The president of APAS is pushing for two pieces of farm legislation to receive quick approval when the Trudeau government returns to parliament.

Todd Lewis says two important items died on the order paper with the election call and he wants them returned for quick passage.

One of the bills had stricter regulations on farm trespassers and another would exempt farm fuel from the carbon tax used for drying grain.

He says both of those bills passed in the House of Commons but not the Senate and should be re-introduced and approved.

Producers in this province face rising costs from grain drying as the Trudeau government plans to hike the carbon tax from 40 dollars to 170 dollars a ton by 2030.
