Agriculture research in Saskatchewan is getting a big boost from the provincial and federal governments.

Agriculture Minister David Marit says more than $218,000 will go to 17 research projects, initiated this fall and conducted through the winter and into spring.

He says the program provides funding to producer groups to evaluate new farm practices and technologies.

Marit says those farm practices include a study of winter varieties of wheat, barley and oats, and spring re-seeding options.

Another project is to evaluate the use of canola meal as a livestock feed ration during fall.

These projects received $45,000 in additional funding from the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association and Fertilizer Canada.
